Teacup

Teacup is a stunning book. Rebecca Young, the writer, and Matt Ottley, the artist, worked together to make a truly beautiful story. Teacup tells the story of a young boy that must leave his home. He takes few items with him, one being a teacup full of dirt from his home that he is forced to leave behind. His travels are long, lonely, and sometimes dangerous. Without giving the ending away, he finally finds a new land and a new home. But I love the message that he took part of his home with him. I got this book while discussing immigration with my kids, and although it takes a more imaginative, less literal approach to the subject, I love the story.
